Meet Cogent

We've been providing Transaction Therapy™ to IT business owners since 2010.

We are a Buy-Side focused merger & acquisition advisory firm (not a Sell-Side brokerage) that works exclusively with clients and candidates in the IT Services industry throughout the USA and Canada.

We work with companies who are MSP’s, Cyber Security/MSSP, Cloud/Hosted Services, SaaS, IT Software, Application Development and all other Information Technology focused businesses.

We know what Buyers need to be successful... and we know what candidates want to become sellers.

The Cogent team combines IT industry specific acquisition transaction experience with deep IT operations know-how to help our clients and acquisition candidates in the IT Services sector discover the Opportunity-Delta™ that will allow them to join forces and swiftly grow into a more successful company that can produce significantly improved financial results and greater equity value.

We have custom tailored our due diligence work flows to the IT Services industry, so no time is wasted on generic requests, and all the information is loaded into our proprietary Transaction Analysis Modeling system (“TAM™”) that allows us to assemble an in-depth breakdown of a Candidate company and not only understand their history and recent performance (like a Quality of Earnings report would) but we go even further to look at current and future personnel, customers, operational needs, culture fit, consolidation opportunities, sales objectives, and more; uncovering the potential synergies that make the Opportunity-Delta™ a reality.

Meet the Cogent Team

"Our experienced team is committed to the achievement of your goals."

What makes Cogent Growth Partners different from other M&A advisory firms is our buy-side focus and our specialized operational depth in the IT Services industry; it’s the only industry we service. Cogent’s team members are IT Services business veterans, with deep experience in the financial, technical and operational aspects of the IT Services industry.

We know how to get transactions closed.

(Hint: it's because we help both sides "win")

From the beginning in 2010, we have been dedicated to helping IT business owners discover and consummate acquisition opportunities with well-matched candidate companies, so that together they can leverage evolving organic growth.

Along the way we’ve developed unique tools and processes that allow the deal parties to stay focused on running their own businesses while we work on the prospective transaction and do most of the heavy-lifting.

Many IT companies are intrigued by the possibilities of growth by acquisition but never pursue the strategy because they don’t have the M&A knowledge, their bank balance isn’t in the millions, they fear losing focus on their business, or they try and fail, or only have limited success, or even a bad experience, because there is a lot that can go wrong, pretty quickly, if you don’t have a purpose built, experienced team in place to make it successful – that’s where Cogent comes into play. We do all this work and more.

And once integration is completed after a transaction, we’ll help you be ready to work with another well-aligned candidate to continue acquisitive growth – so that you can repeat the cycle as often as you wish, right through to your own successful exit in the future. This strategy can significantly increase net cash generation and the enterprise value of the combined companies much faster and more effectively than via organic growth alone, if done correctly.
